Mother’s
This project is a visual representation of my mother within the context of migration and memory. The majority of the representation is through objects and environment. I believe that objects become tools in which a person’s identity is imprinted, and by using photography to capture this gives the viewer a different perspective on the object itself. Throughout the images there’s a dominance of white, illustrating a pristine world.
This sequence is constructed by twelve images; three archival images of my mother from Romania in 1989 and nine images I took in from various photoshoots I shot. The use of the black and white images adds an interesting counterpoint alongside the other images.
